Garance vient de finir la trilogie des Hunger Games.

Romane et Salomé ont attendu pendant des semaines d'aller voir l'adaptation de "The ballad of Songbirds & Snakes".

On y entend cette version de The Hanging Tree par l'actrice principale, Rachel Zegler...

 

 

 

Elle fait écho à celle de Jennifer Lawrence dans les premiers opus.

 

 

 

Jusque-là, nous, on l'écoutait surtout interprétée par L.E.J.

 

 

"The Hanging Tree" a été écrite par Suzanne Collins, l'auteure de The Hunger Games. Elle est apparue à l'origine dans son roman Mockingjay (2010). James Newton Howard et le groupe de folk indépendant américain The Lumineers ont composé le morceau.

Elle donne le point de vue d'un homme accusé de meurtres et pendu en guise de punition.

Dans le film la chanson se transforme en thème pour la rébellion. "The Hanging Tree" exprime un désir de liberté, contient une invitation – à la mort, peut-être, ou plus précisément au martyre. C'est un cri de ralliement.
La chanson insuffle un parfum de "Strange Fruit", la ballade antiraciste popularisée par Billie Holiday dans laquelle l'image bucolique d'un arbre fruitier est transformée de manière choquante pour évoquer l'horreur d'un lynchage.
